IDEA State Advisory Panel to Meet April 7-8

(Santa Fe, NM)—The New Mexico Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) State Advisory Panel will meet on Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8, 2005 at Sunland Park Elementary, located at 305 Alta Vista Drive, in Sunland Park. The panel advises the Public Education Department (PED) on its efforts to assure the provision of free appropriate public education to children with disabilities.

This month’s agenda includes a Director’s Update as well as a Legislative update on April 7th in the morning. Public comment will be welcomed at 9:15 am and at 1:15 pm on April 7th and on April 8th at 10:00 am.

Advisory panel members are appointed by the governor or his designee, are representative of the state’s population and include individuals involved in, or concerned with, the education of children with disabilities.

Individuals with disabilities who need any form of auxiliary aid to attend or
participate in this meeting should contact Judith Cookfair at the Special Education Office (505) 827-1457. Upon request, public documents will be provided in an accessible form necessary to the individual requesting the particular auxiliary aid.
