Public Input Meeting on Nutrition Rule July 14, 2005

( Santa Fe ) - The Public Education Department, in collaboration with the Department of Health, will convene a Public Input Meeting on Thursday, July 14, from 9 – 10:30 AM in the La Cueva High School auditorium, 7801 Wilshire NE, Albuquerque.  As stated in HB 61, the purpose of this meeting is to solicit public input about establishing a statewide school nutrition rule governing foods and beverages sold outside of school meal programs.

During this meeting, the public will have an opportunity to meet and address the Nutrition Rule Committee, and share concerns regarding the scope, content, and impact of the nutrition rule.

As outlined in HB 61, the Committee will have one representative each from: the New Mexico Action for Healthy Kids, parents, students, school food service directors, school boards, school administrators, agriculture, dairy producers, and the food and beverage industry.

Please plan to attend and participate with community members regarding student nutrition and competitive foods sold in school.
