Broad Coalition of Supporters Will Be
Speaking To Support Governor's Pre-K Initiative

(Santa Fe, NM) At a pre-k press conference beginning at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 24, 2005 Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish, and the pre-k bill sponsor, Representative Rick Miera, will be joined by representatives from the following communities:

§ Business Leaders
§ Pediatricians
§ Early Childhood Educators
§ Higher Education
§ Law Enforcement
§ Native American Community

Spearheaded by the Lt. Governor, the initiative is a voluntary program that will increase access to high quality pre-kindergarten for four-year-olds in New Mexico. Governor Richardson has indicated that pre-k legislation is a high priority.

This press conference has been scheduled in conjunction with Representative Miera introducing the legislation on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2005.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm in the Rotunda of the Capitol. Speakers will be available for one-on-one interviews immediately following the press conference.
