New Mexico Indian Education Advisory Council To Meet April 15, 2005 in Santa Fe

(Santa Fe, NM)— There will be a regular meeting of the New Mexico Indian Education Advisory Council (NMIEAC) on April 15, 2005 in Mabry Hall of the Jerry Apodaca Education Building from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Agenda items to include:

  • The election of officers for the NMIEAC;
  • A report from Secretary Garcia on the 2005 legislative session;
  • Related appropriations, and PED strategic plans;
  • An update from Assistant Secretary Bird regarding implementation of the Indian Education Act;
  • Financial status and establishment of the Northwest Office;
  • Adoption of NMIEAC rules and procedures;
  • Establishment of a schedule for district reports to the NMIEAC;
  • NMIEAC committee reports.

An open forum will be held in the afternoon at 1:00 to take public comments from individuals who desire to speak on items not on the agenda.

Regular meetings of the NMIEAC for the remainder of 2005 have been scheduled as follows:
