PED Seeks Proposals Regarding Magnet Career Academy

(Santa Fe, NM)—The Public Education Department is seeking proposals for Magnet Career Academies. The academies are envisioned as small learning communities independent of or within existing high schools focused on one to two career/technical education areas in grades 11 and 12. The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday, October 8.

The PED received $200,000 in 2004, under HB 2 of the General Appropriations Act, for Magnet Career Academies. A total of $25,000 will be provided to eight recipients.

All proposals must be based upon successful, research-based models of high school reform and programs must partner with community and district resources.
