Public Education Commission to Meet on June 11

(Santa Fe NM)--The 10-member Public Education Commission (PEC) will hold its regular meeting on Friday, June 11 at the Jerry Apodaca Education Building, in Mabry Hall, located at 300 Don Gaspar in Santa Fe, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The PEC will continue its discussion, started in May, of PEC duties as a result of passage of House Bill 96a of 2004, the Public Education Act. The act creates the PEC as an advisory commission to the Public Education Department (PED) and names as one of its duties to work with the PED to develop a five-year strategic plan.

The PEC will consider its rules of procedure as a result of the new legislation and elect new officers. The PEC will also recognize Terry Brigance, former director of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

An open forum allowing for public comments will be held at noon.
