Public Education Commission Meeting Rescheduled for July 9

Santa Fe NM--The 10-member Public Education Commission (PEC) will hold its regular meeting on Friday, July 9 at 9:00 a.m. at the Jerry Apodaca Education Building, in Mabry Hall, located at 300 Don Gaspar in Santa Fe. The PEC will continue its discussion of Public Education Department (PED) duties as a result of passage of House Bill 96a of 2004, the Public Education Act. The act creates the PEC as an advisory commission to the PED and names as one of its duties to work with the PED to develop a five-year strategic plan.

The PEC will consider its rules of procedure as a result of the new legislation and elect new officers. The PEC will also recognize Terry Brigance, former director of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

An open forum will be held at noon for public comments.
