The PED and Employees Donate 3993 Books
As Holiday Gifts to 4 Priority Schools

(Santa Fe, NM)--The New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) announced today that four priority schools: Nizhoni Elementary, Navajo Elementary, Tony E Quintana Elementary, and Cuba High School will receive 3,993 books donated by PED employees. Out of the total number of books, 1,140 Spanish language books were donated. These books will provide holiday gifts for students identified by the Principals of each of these schools. The schools were randomly selected from a pool of priority schools.

Secretary Veronica C. García said, “I am hopeful that these books will make a difference in the life of each and every child that receives an unexpected gift this holiday season. I am grateful to all the PED employees who are not only helping a child celebrate the holidays, but also giving that child the gift of reading.”

The breakdown of books for schools is as follows:

Nizhoni Elementary 912 books

Navajo Elementary 912 books

Tony E. Quintana Sombrillo Elementary 2,052 books

Cuba High School 117 books
