IDEA State Advisory Panel to Meet in Alamogordo

(Santa Fe, NM)—The New Mexico Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) State Advisory Panel will meet on Thursday and Friday, December 4 and 5, at the New Mexico School for the Visually Handicapped (NMSVH) auditorium, located at 1900 N. White Sands Blvd., in Alamogordo. The panel provides guidance to the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) on issues related to the education of students with disabilities.

On December 4 the panel will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on December 5 the panel will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Mary Beresford, Ph.D., executive director of the Governor’s Committee on the Concerns of the Handicapped, will address the panel on December 4 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Also on December 4, a presentation and school tour will be provided by NMSVH from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. On December 5, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., a presentation will be made on inclusion in the Cloudcroft schools.

Individuals with disabilities who need any form of auxiliary aid to attend or participate in this meeting should contact the Special Education Office at 827-6541 no later than ten (10) days prior to scheduled event. Upon request, public documents will be provided in an accessible form necessary to the individual requesting the particular auxiliary aid.
