(Santa Fe, NM)— The U.S. Department of Education will make a special announcement today at Reginald Chavez Elementary School, located at 2700 Mountain Road, NW, in Albuquerque, regarding the New Mexico Accountability Plan. The plan details how New Mexico will comply with the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and requirements for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).

The announcement will be made by Assistant Secretary for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services Dr. Robert Pasternack. Joining him will be U.S. Representative Heather Wilson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Michael J. Davis and other state and local officials.

The New Mexico State Department of Education (SDE) submitted the plan, developed under the leadership of Dr. Mel Morgan, the SDE’s assistant superintendent for Accountability and Information Services, to the U.S. Department of Education on January 29.
