Five Companies Submit Proposals, Meet RFP Deadline, for Public School Management
(Santa Fe, NM)-Five companies submitted proposals for public school management of corrective action schools by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, the submission deadline, the New Mexico State Department of Education (SDE) announced today. The companies are Corridor, Inc., of Las Cruces, Edison Schools, Inc., of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mosaica Education, Inc., of San Rafael, California, and New Mexico Education Network Center and Youth Development, Inc., both of Albuquerque.
Staff from the SDE will immediately verify that all five companies met the mandatory requirements stated in the Request for Proposal (RFP). (The RFP is available on the SDE's web site, located at www.ped.state.nm.us.)
Beginning on May 15, an evaluation committee will review the proposals and select finalists. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Michael J. Davis will announce the final companies on June 13. The companies will then be placed under a statewide price agreement for use in meeting the needs of corrective action schools.
"This selection process will ensure that responsible companies, individuals and organizations are available to manage and operate the affairs of schools needing improvement. We must provide flexibility and innovative solutions to meet the needs of individual schools and communities," said State Superintendent Davis. "Our bottom line is to close the gap in education and ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to graduate and pursue their dreams," he said.
All proposals and the findings of the evaluation committee will be made public on June 13, following the state superintendent's announcement.
