Education Partners to Hold News Conference On "Consensus Agenda" on Monday, February 4, At 1:00 p.m., in Capitol Rotunda
(Santa Fe, NM)-The New Mexico Education Partners, a diverse group of statewide organizations working on behalf of public education, will hold a news conference on Monday, February 4, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., in the Capitol rotunda in Santa Fe, to present its 2002 "Consensus Agenda." The agenda includes the Partners goals for the 2002 legislative session.
For the 2002 session, the Partners is seeking support in five areas: 1) resources, 2) accountability, 3) reading, literacy and multilingual proficiency, 4) teachers and 5) governance. The Partners will urge the Legislature to continue on course toward excellence in education.
"While our strategies for implementation may differ, we are in general agreement that the investment in education in 2002 must be ample to meets the needs of continued progress in education," said Renatta Witte, president of the New Mexico PTA and a spokesperson for the Partners.
