Statewide Conference on Charter Schools To be Held May 2 to 3 in Albuquerque
(Santa Fe, NM)-The New Mexico State Department of Education's (SDE) Alternative Education Unit and the New Mexico League of Charter Schools will hold a statewide conference on charter schools on Thursday and Friday, May 2 to 3, at the Albuquerque Convention Center, Lower Level West Complex, located at 401 Second Street, in Albuquerque. The conference will offer a variety of topics for approved charter schools, those interested in starting charter schools and those interested in the charter school movement.
The conference will open at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, with a series of breakout sessions. Sessions will continue through 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3. Breakout topics will address standards-based learning, interactive mathematics, technology, finances, accreditation, service learning, bilingual education, special education, promising practices and governance. Speakers will include SDE and charter school staff.
The registration fee is $25.00 per person in advance and $30.00 per person at the door. Registration begins on both days at 7:30 a.m. For information, please call Annette Larkin at the SDE at (505) 827-6909.
